Not Everyone Will Acknowledge or Reply To This But…….

V-man
V-man was the ADMIN, MOD/SuperMOD, creator and web master of dozens of boards in the past, A-S, BBC, AM, just to name a few. I first met him online on MuscleFreakz. I remember he gave me my 1st MOD and later SuperMOD position on A-S and BBC.
Mind you, I remember that he often got into arguments and online fights with other ADMIN and fellow board brothers. And for that, he may not be a favorite to most or many of you all but I must give him his props for he believed in me 12 years ago.

Your parents would act one way in public and another way in private to similar situations and did you find this confusing?
Here’s an example for me, my mom is sweet as pie, kind and considerate to everyone, and acts that way, and then we get home and every now and then we talk about an incident or confrontation and she goes, xyz is an asshole, or something like that……………….so u kind of get a mixed message
My dad in large public setting is the life of the party, laughing and joking with all, tolerates all kinds of bs going on. Get’s home, total party pooper, every little thing pisses him off, stuff in public he’d joke and laugh about with others, he crucifies you……………again, wtf………………
and for all of us on the board here, because we are ironmen, i get the sense, we are no different in public than in private, what you see is what you get in a way, try and help, do good, it don’t happen we are not afraid to voice are consent socially and are not afraid of the consequences
thoughts, etc.

New Exercise and Fitness Review
There are two kinds of lifters: those who cannot miss a workout—even if a category 4 hurricane is approaching—and those who spend more days “recovering” than actually training. At one point in my life, I hated skipping workouts, and that included while on vacation. I spent a lot of time searching for gyms, oftentimes hunting them down on street maps in foreign languages.
Looking back, it might not have been the best use of my vacation time, but it did expose me to new training concepts. And so I recount here a trip to Rio de Janeiro—not the details of excursions to the sandy beaches of Ipanema or the Christ the Redeemer statue, but the excruciating pain of a finishing move I did on one particular shoulder day.
Talk about a monster pump!
Once upon a time in Brazil, I was navigating my way through a small, crowded gym without air conditioning in the middle of summer when a personal trainer introduced himself, which gave me a chance to use my mix of Spanish and Portuguese called “Portunol.” He was selling his personal-training services, for which he charged a whopping $ 35 for an entire month. I know a good offer when I see one, so we struck a deal.
It was shoulder day, so he suggested the usual assortment of presses and straight-arm raises—nothing I hadn’t done before in my Los Angeles gym. But it’s the finishing movement that I remember—a souvenir of sorts I carried with me for a few days, courtesy of something called delayed-onset muscle soreness (DOMS). It’s what every bodybuilder trains for—except for when it’s really, really bad.
He had me finish that day’s shoulder session with a giant set using a pair of 12.5-kg dumbbells. By the time I’d computed that weight in pounds (nearly 28), it was too late—I’d already committed.
Here’s the four-exercise giant set, broken into five major components:
Choose a pair of dumbbells that’s about 10 pounds less than what you normally do for a 10-rep max set of standing lateral raises. Your first exercise is exactly that movement.
Even though you’re fatigued at the end of your workout, with the lighter weight you should be able to bang out 10 good reps. With lateral raises, it’s important to raise your elbows up high because that motion best targets the middle delts.
Without changing weight, go right into bent-over lateral raises. Simply bend over, keeping a flat back, and maintain your head in neutral alignment—don’t strain your cervical spine by looking up. Do another set of 10 reps, bringing your hands out wide and as high as you can.
Next, stand up and do a set of dumbbell upright rows. Even though fatigue is starting to set in, this is a multijoint movement that recruits all three deltoid heads, as well as the upper traps. Keep the weights in tight to your body as you push your elbows out to your sides in the top position. Do another set of 10 reps.
Go right into a set of 10 overhead presses. Yes, this is a ridiculously light weight you’re pressing, but when preceded by three other exercises it significantly increases the challenge.
Use a split stance for better balance, completing the presses by bringing the weights close to each other at the top without allowing them to touch.
Take a 90-second rest and complete two more rounds. On your last round, when you drop the weights after you complete your set of overhead presses, raise your arms all the way overhead for a full 60 seconds, and watch the clock.
I guarantee your arms will feel like lead weights at about 30 seconds and you’ll want to cut them off—that’s how intense the burn will be.
Once you make it to 60 seconds, you’re done, but I suggest you prop your arms on something, because even the act of holding them by your sides will hurt for the next few minutes.
90 sec rest between rounds. On your last round, when you drop the weights after you complete your set of overhead presses, raise your arms all the way overhead for a full 60 seconds.
Try this finisher for a monster pump on your next shoulder day and let me know how it goes in the comments below!

Deadlifts. He slams the bar on the floor like nothing I’ve ever seen. It’s so loud it jars me. People have complained, but the manager is a weanie and doesn’t say anything to him. I’ve politely dropped hints that it’s bad for his back. Back in the day I trained in gyms with lifters who put some serious weight on the bar and did not do this. This place is a small gym. It’s only a slightly manlier upgrade to planet fitness. I can make noise and use chalk. If I weren’t training with this guy I’d tell him to knock it the fuck off and I wouldn’t be polite about it. However, I don’t want to offend the guy, because he’s a decent dude and I probably need him more than he needs me at this point.

Read on to discover why Francesca is so passionate about raising funds for cystic Fibrosis.
‘My 100-mile cycle through the French Alps in memory of my brother and sister’ – Francesca Eyre
Francesca, 43, is the eldest child of four. She lost her sister Jo (aged 15) and brother Nick (aged 34) to Cystic Fibrosis and is a carrier of the faulty gene. To raise money for the Cystic Fibrosis Trust she is cycling around Lake Geneva in the French Alps this May and encouraging others to join her in the 100-mile race.
Francesca explains, “In the 1970s cystic fibrosis was a very rare illness and sufferers didn’t live until adulthood. It’s a life-shortening genetic condition that slowly destroys the lungs and digestive system. Mucus builds up on your lungs and because you are not getting enough oxygen around your body, your main organs begin to suffer.”
She continues, “Growing up I was very aware of it. Mum spent a lot of time away in hospital with Nick or Jo so I started cooking quite young and became a second mum for my brothers and sister. I would also give Jo and Nick their chest physiotherapy during lunchtimes at school. This helped to clear their airways of mucus and they needed it three times a day. We were a very close family but I always knew that Jo and Nick were going to die at some point so I put up a barrier to protect myself. It wasn’t that I didn’t want to get close to them but you have to protect yourself or else you will fall apart when something happens to them.”
Despite barely being able to breathe, when Jo was 11 she rode 25 miles to raise money for cystic fibrosis. Francesca says, “I remember Jo being very poorly and everybody saying it will be too difficult for her. But she did it and raised over £100, which was a lot of money back then. This is why I do so much sport because my brother and sister never could. I’m breathing for them.”
Jo died when she was just 15 and Francesca moved to Ireland to train as a chef in Dublin. She set up a very successful catering company but returned to England when her mum was diagnosed with cancer. She says, “Mum died when I was 21 which left me in charge to look after her two brothers. Nick, now nearly an adult, it was a lot harder to cope with cystic fibrosis as he was more aware of what’s happening.
With Nick being cared for by family, Francesca took a catering job in Morzine, France where she met and fell in love with her now husband Paul. After running a series of chalets together they decided that it made sense to set up their own chalet business with Francesca as the chef and Paul as the surveyor. This was how Chilly Powder was born. Francesca and Paul designed the chalet and literally built up the business from nothing. Now 20 years on, Chilly Powder is one of the most desirable ski chalets in the region.
Married with their own business, the couple started to think about starting a family. Francesca explains, “We didn’t know if Paul was a carrier of the faulty gene but decided to try for children. The chances of him being a carrier were 1 in 20 and we decided that as a couple that we would not terminate a cystic fibrosis baby. Thankfully all three of my children are healthy. There are five children with cystic fibrosis in Morzine and three babies are born each week in the UK with the condition, it is for these people that we’re raising money with the 100 mile Cyclo Tour du Lac Leman. We are raising money to make a daily difference to the lives of those with cystic fibrosis and the people who care for them.”
She says, “For me I live my life to the absolute full, on behalf of my mother, my brother and my sister, who have not being able to. I breathe for them.”

I was motivated to lift weights when some big guys made fun of me during P.E. class in junior high school. I ordered a workout program from an advertisement in the back of Boy’s Life Magazine and asked my father to weld together barbells and dumbbells from scrap metal lying around his shop. I taught myself to weld and made my own weight set eventually. The problem with the set was that I couldn’t go up or down in weight. I used that weight set for years before joining a gym in college.
In 1986, before the gym craze swept the country, it was hard to find a good gym. As a result, I went through periods where I had no gym and was limited to home workouts. Having the right equipment and being surrounded by others pursuing the same goals as me was vital to make progress. Having experienced both worlds, I encourage beginners to avoid home gyms.

“I spent many years trying to learn things on my own and lost valuable time through trial and error.”
My passion for bodybuilding developed after I entered my first competition. When I competed, I met more people involved in the sport and my knowledge base expanded greatly because of those connections. It took another competition to raise my passion to the next level where I made new friends and found my fellow competitors to be amazing role models. Following my friends in the sport fuels my discipline and encourages me to work harder toward my goals.
Making gains motivates me like nothing else. Seeing my progress makes me want to work harder. My early role models in the sport were Arnold Schwarzenegger, Lou Ferrigno, Lee Haney, Serge Nubret, and Dorian Yates.
I love following my favorite bodybuilders on Bodybuilding.com, Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. These tools allow me to communicate with them in an unobtrusive way. Seeing these fellow competitors every day is very inspirational.
I haven’t won my class in a show, so my goal is to win my class at my next show. I last competed at the masters nationals and got great feedback from the judges. I’m working on the issues they raised and will bring a better package to the local stage next year. I’m hoping to go up a weight class, if not two, by fall of 2014. I’ll compete at nationals again but not until 2015.
Find a mentor who knows the sport well. Work closely with your mentor and do everything your mentor says. I spent many years trying to learn things on my own and lost valuable time through trial and error. What’s more, because my primary problem was nutrition, all of my efforts in the gym were providing less than optimal results. A mentor can short circuit the trial and error and give you the tools you need to succeed.
Kai Greene is motivating because he has an amazing physique and keeps a grounded attitude. He’s a man for all seasons who paints, speaks publicly, and shares his knowledge freely. I work closely with Keith Hunter, a natural professional bodybuilder. Keith keeps me on track and provides tremendous knowledge, motivation, and friendship. He also created my diet.
I find the resources on Bodybuilding.com are the best. The community, products, research, and competition results are spot on. It’s my go-to site for everything bodybuilding related. The site helped me reach my goals and provided me with unsurpassed knowledge, the best products, and a place to meet fellow athletes.
